2001
Four installations for World Service.
Typewriters
Britt Hatzius with Odelia Lavie
Set between two large gravestones, amongst tiny living room lamps, two typewriters are set up for audience passing by to use, filling rolls of paper with random, spontaneous, poetic, senseless, loving, lyrical, lying notes and fragments on the night.
Piano for the dead
Britt Hatzius
A long forgotten hidden path of particularly small gravestones is lit up by hundreds of candles. Ten pairs of feet casts, small in size, rest beside the gravestones. A hidden tape recorder plays random notes to broken piano keys lying scattered open a fallen gravestone.
Upside down Angel
Britt Hatzius
A broken, fallen gravestone with a sculpted angel, almost disappearing in the undergrowth is mirrored so as to be seen by passers by.
Umbrellas
Britt Hatzius
A collection of broken umbrellas are suspended high above in the trees, floating above the many overgrown graves, faintly lit up from below.
